Chinese to Invest in UK Creativity, Design and Engineering

Garden of Ideas – A 21st Century Pleasure Garden

Chinese investors have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Garden of Ideas Ltd.

This MoU represents a commitment to establishing Garden of Ideas, a major new world-class cultural attraction in China.

Garden of Ideas is being brought forward by one of the UK’s leading creative minds, Simon Elliott, in collaboration with a world-class consulting team, led by Trivandi (James Bulley OBE), Eversheds (Stephen Sorrell), Eden Project (Sir Tim Smit KBE), Openwide International (Rory Holburn) and Atelier One (Professor Neil Thomas) who have, between them, delivered venues for London 2012 Olympic Games, Eden Project, the Harry Potter Experience in London and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.

Born out of the UK’s vibrant arts, entertainment, design and engineering sectors, Garden of Ideas is a completely new cultural attraction. Outside it is a contemporary Pleasure Garden, where visitors can explore the spectacularly landscaped slopes and discover secret entrances to cavernous halls below. Inside the halls, cutting-edge ride technology transports visitors through massive theatrical installations created by the world’s best artists, film-makers and production companies. These exhilarating journeys will bring the immersive arts to the popular mass entertainment market.

The first project will attract substantial Chinese investment to British design, technology and cultural organisations.
The MoU was signed in the presence of the UK Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Livingston of Parkhead and the Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce, Li Jinzao.

Sir Tim Smit said, “Garden of Ideas is a new platform for ground-breaking arts, science and technology for a broad popular audience.”

Artistic Director for the Garden of Ideas, Simon Elliott said, “We have drawn an award-winning, highly experienced team together to develop an intelligent, must-see, profit-making cultural destination fit for the next generation.”
