Madinah Moments

Our approach involved detailed journey analysis using personas developed in collaboration with the Al Madinah Development Authority. This analysis helped tailor the design to the needs of diverse visitors, ensuring multilingual support and digital accessibility throughout.

The strategic approach adopted by our team was rooted in international best practice, emphasising access and inclusion. The wayfinding system aims to inspire visitors to explore lesser-known sites within the city, thereby enriching their overall experience, generating a sense of emotion with the place, it’s people and its stories. This was achieved through a variety of strategically placed signs that advertised points of interest and facilities, ensuring consistency with the Madinah Moments brand guidelines. A key difference to a typical wayfinding project was the inclusion of interpretation, our design features a series of lecterns that can be configured in different ways to suit the varying levels of user engagement.

Key elements of the wayfinding solution include digital touchpoints, such as large LED screens, providing dynamic information and enhanced visibility, and an app to truly weave the dynamic and static information. The design also incorporates traditional finger-post signs and totem-based kiosks at key junctions, offering clear navigation and historical context.

Trivandi are currently entering the pilot phase of the project, our work includes ethnographic research and behavioural observations to refine the strategy. This iterative process will ensure the wayfinding system is both functional and engaging, ultimately transforming Madinah Moments into a seamless, user-friendly environment for all visitors.
